MEET ASHLEY

Ashley is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Qualified Supervisor, and Owner of Unbridled Grace. She is also a mom of 3, a devoted wife of 11 years, and native Floridian.

She graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree from Florida State University and then earned her Master’s Degree in counseling from Southeastern University.

Before she became a counselor, Ashley was a high school English Teacher. Her favorite part of her time teaching was not the curriculum, but the heartfelt conversations she had with students about their lives. She quickly learned this is where her passion truly was and made the best decision to pursue a counseling degree.

During her counseling career, she has worked in multiple private practices. In the past, she has been a part of the counseling teams at Raising Teen Girls and The Center for Marriage and Family Enrichment. In these practices, she counseled all populations and led therapy groups for young women and couples in crisis.

After her variety of professional experiences, Ashley followed her passion for counseling females and created her own therapy practice, Unbridled Grace. Her therapy services are specifically designed with females in mind.

Ashley also provides Christian counseling to clients who request it. She loves helping women grow deeper in their faith, finding God’s goodness in the darkest of times, and using their faith as an incredible tool to better their mental health.

In her daily life, Ashley enjoys spending time with her husband and three children (all ages 5 and under!) Reading a good book in the sunshine and yard saling with a coffee in her hand are two of her favorite self-care activities.

As someone who has walked through my own counseling journey, I know it takes bravery to begin the process. Some of my favorite moments are when I have clients end their first session saying ‘Wow, I feel better already’. Oftentimes, they wish they hadn’t waited so long to start. I love being able to provide a warm, inviting space for teen girls and women so that beginning the process doesn’t feel so intimidating.

areas of speciality

Anxiety, OCD,

& Panic Attacks

Living with anxiety can feel exhausting and frustrating. Therapy with Ashley in this area first includes psycho-education on the brain and gaining a better understanding of what’s happening inside of it. She will also incorporate Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Exposure Response Prevention (both proven to be highly effective in helping people with anxiety-related disorders).

Ashley has been a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional in the past and is currently working on renewing her certification in this area.

Pregnancy Issues

Having experienced personal hardships in her own pregnancy journeys, she has a tender spot in her heart for those struggling with miscarriage, pregnancy loss, and infertility.

Did you know that 1 in 5 pregnancies will end in miscarriage and approximately 1 in 9 women will struggle with infertility?

Having a picture in your mind of what you hope your family will look like, but then having to walk a path filled with grief and uncertainty can feel lonely and scary. Ashley considers it a gift to walk alongside women in these seasons of life and offering support along the way.

Perinatal & Postpartum Mental Health

As a mother of 3, Ashley is extremely familiar with the beauty and struggles that many women experience during this stage of life. Having a child is one of the biggest life changes a woman will ever experience. Did you know the structure of a woman’s brain physically changes when she has a child?!

It can feel overwhelming having your life change drastically with the new responsibility of caring for a little life. Many women experience surges of perinatal anxiety, depression, and mom-guilt as their bodies and minds try to adjust to their new norm.

Ashley has additional training in perinatal mental health and truly enjoys guiding women through this season. These moments can still be cherished in the midst of challenge.

Raising Teen Girls

The teen years can be a time when parents find themselves struggling with how to communicate and help their teen daughters. Ashley has over 10 years of experience working with teen girls and loves helping parents navigate this season with their daughter.

She offers counseling for teen girls, which includes monthly updates to the parents. She also offers counseling and coaching sessions for parents, where they can learn ways to better support their daughter and family system during this time in her life.

The teen years don’t have to be something you “get through”.

These years can be joyful and set the foundation for a healthy, rewarding relationship with your daughter for years to come.

A note of encouragement

Sometimes we don’t like the way our story is going.

I often have clients who don’t want to be there the first session. Time and time again I will hear teen girls say to me, “There is nothing wrong with me so I don’t know why I need counseling?” or women say “I can’t believe I’ve let it get to this point”.

I always appreciate their honesty. Counseling can have a negative stigma that comes with it and it can be a little scary - at first. Sitting down and talking about the real stuff life is throwing at us can feel intimidating. Not what is posted on our Instagram stories or masked with a filter, but the realities that we may be too uncomfortable talking about with others.

What I tell my clients is that counseling doesn’t mean there is something wrong with you. Life isn’t perfect and neither are people. So in fact, coming to counseling means quite the opposite about her.

It means she realizes her life isn’t perfect - and that’s okay.

It means she cares enough about herself to take time for her own well-being.

It means she is brave enough to discover, reflect, and own her unique story.

All of those things make her pretty wonderful.

THE MEANING BEHIND THE NAME

The name “Unbridled Grace” speaks to the mission of the therapy practice.

Too often, we (as females) are living and reacting to life out of fear, self-judgment, and insecurity. Our responses come naturally and frequently without us realizing how untrue and unhelpful they are to our own wellbeing.

Like putting on a tinted pair of glasses, the script we recite to ourselves affects the way we view ourselves and the world.

But what if our natural response to ourselves and others was filled with grace and care, instead of harshness and criticism? What if we became mindful of our thoughts and the experiences that created them in the first place? What if we stopped merely operating out of what is just an unhealthy familiar and instead began thoughtfully responding to our lives in an intentional way?

At Unbridled Grace, our mission is to help clients tame the defeating patterns in their lives and lead a life filled with abounding grace- beginning with grace for themselves.
